I was really anxious to try this mask after reading such good reviews about it and after watching Gwyneth Paltrow’s video. Love it! Goop skin care line is Paltrow’s new brand released in collaboration with Juice Beauty. With organic ingredients and powerful formulas, they claim to be a great anti aging line. Prices are high for the quantities that you get…but hey, it is indeed Paltrow’s brand. You are not only paying for the product itself but for the person behind it.
Nevertheless, it is still worth every penny. This exfoliating mask is made with natural hydroxy acids that make a gentle natural “chemical” exfoliation. You may be thinking, “What in the world is hydroxy acids?” Alpha hydroxy acids are natural acids found in food, like citric acid (found in citrus fruits), malic acid (found in apples), lactic acid (found in sour milk), glycol acid (found in sugar cane), and tartaric acid (found in grapes). All of these acids combined together cause a powerful “acidic exfoliation”, plus it has plant cellulose beads that create a gentle physical scrub too. Now, if you DO have sensitive skin, be aware that it WILL make your skin bright red once you take it off.
This is how it worked for me: With my face clean, I put the face mask on, waited for 3 minutes, felt the sting, gently massaged it onto my skin and removed it with a warm cloth. My skin was RED like an apple the first time. Not sure if beautifully glowing OR red as in “I ran a whole marathon” red. However, I tried it again for the second, the third and fourth time. I was still getting that stinging sensation but my face was not turning as red anymore. Still slightly red but not that bad. After the mask I like to apply my Argan Oil drops and after 10 minutes my skin is glowing. Like beautifully glowing. Even my mom noticed the other day and asked me if I had done something to my skin, cause it looked VERY good.
Also, did you know that these hydroxy acids are known to improve skin texture, fine lines and will help with the spots in your face? So, it is all good AND as a PLUS 86% of the formulation is organic, which is amazingly good for you and your organism.
So, well done Gwyneth. It is definitely a product to try. Do not be let down by the redness. It is a powerful formula. Keep on using it. Your skin just has to get used to the acids. If you do feel like it is too strong for your skin, use it once a week at first and leave it on for a bit less than 3 minutes. Keep incrementing the usage until you feel your skin ready for it.
We would love to hear your thoughts.
